On November 1st, Xbox 360 owners will have a new patch waiting for them. That's when Microsoft is going to launch the fall update for Xbox Live.

The update adds Kinect functionality, in advance of the controller-free tech's November 4th launch in North America. It also adds the ESPN3 service to Xbox Live so you can watch sports events through your console. Enhanced voice communication and easier wireless access are among the smaller changes.

Even if you don't care about any of the new features, note that you'll need to download the update otherwise. It'll be mandatory for future Xbox Live use.
