Darren Aronofsky is not Robert Rodriguez. When he settles in to make a movie, really settles in on a film that’s important to him, be ready for half a decade to elapse before you see it. The Wrestler happened pretty fast by his standards, but it also lacks a lot of his signature style. So when Aronofsky started talking about his plans to make a Noah’s Ark movie, and knowing that he’s also working on a boxing movie called The Fighter, we should have known that might mean trouble for Robocop. He’s not the kind of guy who can handle more than one project at once.
Now JoBlo says his new Robocop movie is in trouble. The caught him on “The Howard Stern Show” promoting The Wrestler, and when asked about the status of Robocop he said he wasn’t sure if it was still going to happen, even though he’s still working on the script. It’s starting to sound like with all of the other things Darren has going on, his re-imagining of Robocop may get left out in the cold.
