Here’s a shocker: Viral marketing isn’t just for Batman movies. Apparently it’s being tried with other movies. Unfortunately, unless the movie involved as a guy in a cape or some sort of skyscraper sized monster, most of the time no one seems to notice. For instance the new Kevin Costner movie Swing Vote has a series of viral videos up online. At least one of them is even pretty funny.
Swing Vote is Costner’s politics fantasy flick, the one where the entire election rests on the vote of one man: a disinterested red neck named Bud, played by KC. The candidates he has to choose from are played by Kelsey Grammer and Dennis Hopper, and the series of viral videos running around the net revolve around their campaign commercials, which are specifically geared towards Bud. Kelsye Grammer’s character seems to be a big supporter of gay marriage, and Dennis Hopper tries to woo Bud with exploding kids. No really, exploding kids. I’ve dropped all four Swing Vote viral videos below. The newest one is first. Don’t stop watching till you see little Johnny and Susie disintegrate in a puff of smoke.
