The Master Gets A Kaleidoscopic New Poster
The big news in Los Angeles this past weekend was that Paul Thomas Anderson secretly world premiered his latest film, The Master, after a special screening of Stanley Kubrick's The Shining. The film got great buzz out of the showing, with one audience member likening it to a "fever dream." The movie is slated to play during the Toronto International Film Festival and The Weinstein Company recently bumped it up in the release scheduled - it will now play in September - but now we have even more great news: there's a brand new poster online!
The artwork is a simple design, but a well executed and beautiful one. Much like the teaser poster that was released late last month, it's subtle but brilliant. Check it out below and see it full size over on Yahoo!
The Master stars Joaquin Phoenix as Freddie Sutton, a war veteran who has become a hard-drinking drifter living in post-war America. Things begin to turn around for him when he meets Lancaster Dodd (Philip Seymour Hoffman), a charismatic, L. Ron Hubbard-type individual who has begun the creation of his own faith-based organization. Lancaster takes Freddie under his wing and makes him his number one man, but when Freddie begins to question the organization's teachings and Lancaster's legitimacy, everything begins to fall apart. Amy Adams, Laura Dern and Jesse Plemons co-star in the movie, which Anderson both wrote and directed. The film will be in theaters on September 21st and you can see more from it in our Blend Film Database.
