Titanic Won’t Sink, Might Go 3D![]()
Poor Leo. The guy will never be able to live down his role of Jack. Shame too because it seemed like he was almost there. He had a new career. He became Stephen Spielberg’s new muse, then Martin Scorcese’s. He starred in some of the best movies of the last decade, and it was all enough to almost make you forget his cheese-tastic role in Titanic. It wasn’t a lofty goal, Kate Winslet moved on so easily, even won an Oscar.
But now a new generation might get a chance to discover Titanic and obsess over Leo as Jack. And in the culture that we live in, it’s obvious that seeing a movie like Titanic in two dimensions just isn’t adequate. That’s why months ago at Comic Con, James Cameron announced here that the movie would be re-released in 3D. Apparently the Trades don't send anyone to Comic Con since they've just now gotten around to reporting it. In fact they seem to think an announcement of the 3D re-release is as much as a year away... even though James Cameron announced it in July. Whoops. With all the money being made in the 3D business and James Cameron’s Avatar coming soon, this makes complete sense. Everything is in 3D these days. It’s not just reserved for terrible horror movies. Up was a huge success in 3D, as was Monsters Vs. Aliens. Toy Story and Toy Story 2 will be rereleased at the end of the year in the format. It was only a matter of time before they started hitting the love stories. And I guess Titanic is a great place to start. Who doesn’t love seeing people drown in a third dimension? |
