Toy Story 3 Announced![]()
The long rumored third Toy Story sequel is happening, only this time it’s Pixar’s guys in charge. Originally Disney was planning one without any of the people who made the first two movies, but with the Disney/Pixar merger Toy Story director John Lasseter is now running the Disney animation department. What that means for you and me is we’re getting a good movie.
Unfortunately Lasster, who directed Toy Story and co-directed Toy Story 2 will not be helming this one, probably because his duties as Disney Animation’s chief creative officer are keeping him too busy. Instead, Variety says Lee Unkrich will direct Toy Story 3. Who is Lee Unkrich? Well if you can’t get John Lasseter to direct your Pixar movie then Unkrich is the next best thing. He co-directed Toy Story 2 with John and also co-directed Monsters Inc. and Finding Nemo. This is his first time going solo, but with a co-directing resume like that the guy is obviously prepared. Proving yet again that he gets what Disney and Pixar’s fans want, Lasseter says, “The greatest thing about the merger of the two companies is that the creators of 'Toy Story' 1 and 2 can make 3 with the story that we wanted.” And that folks, is why John Lasseter is my hero. He doesn’t deliver corporate speak about synergy and profit margins, even though he’s now an executive. He simply wants to tell great stories. |
