CBS’ The Ordained pilot has signed on two more big TV Names. The drama project, which follows a popular political family, has added The Mentalist and Entourage actress Emmanuelle Chriqui and Jurassic Park and Alcatraz actor Sam Neill.

The Ordained has been gearing up at CBS for several weeks. Charlie Cox has already been cast as the lead in the pilot, playing Tom Reilly, a character who has to give up the priesthood in order to become a lawyer, which will apparently help his political sister who is in danger of being assassinated. I know that sounds weird, but CBS was confident enough in this one to bring it to pilot, so we should give it the benefit of the doubt.

In the pilot, Neil will play the patriarchal head of the Reilly clan, who apparently will go by the nickname “The Governor,” which probably relates to the family’s political ties, although there’s no word from the network on the character’s career, yet. According to EW, Chriqui will play Tom’s next-door neighbor, which sounds like it has romance potential.

These castings have piqued my interest quite a bit more than the early castings, no offense to Cox. If The Ordained does make it to series, I hope Chriqui will still be able to pop up on The Mentalist next season, as her sparring with Jane has become one of my favorite parts of the series. I suppose it’s a little early to be worrying about this, though. The Mentalist has not yet been renewed and we have no idea whether The Ordained will move forward or not. TV Blend will keep you posted, however.
