The DVD Blend Loves Heroes

Each week DVDs come out. Some of them are worth your time and money and some aren't. Some of them are movies I've seen, and some of them aren’t. Regardless, I give you my opinion on the big releases of the week. If the releases sound like something you want to buy, just click the link to go to Amazon.com and you’ll support Cinema Blend with a few pennies. Take it or leave it, here's the DVD Blend.

Cinema Blend Pick of the Week:

Heroes: Season One

There’s been no doubt since the series first aired that this is one of those shows that will really come alive watching episodes sequentially and close together on DVD. NBC did fans a favor by airing the season’s three acts without much in the way of disturbance or distraction, but now you can sit back and enjoy all 23 episodes back-to-back if you want to. Watch Sylar’s slow rise to power, the deconstruction of HRG, and Hiro go from geek to… well, geek with powers. You don’t even have to worry about climactic moments being spoiled in the previews for next week’s episode. Even better, however, is the uncut 73 minute original pilot which features an entirely new character, featurettes focusing on the show’s effects, stunts, music, and even the guy who really does the artwork for Heroes, including Isaac’s paintings and pictures, Tim Sale. Add in the fact that it’s available for a rather affordable price on HD DVD and you’ve just got to pick this up… unless, that is, you don’t want to be cool.

Worth mentioning:
Row 1 - Cell 0 Friday Night Lights - FNL is one of the few football movies I absolutely love, but I didn’t make the conversion from the movie to the TV series. This DVD set comes with a money back guarantee straight from Universal, though, which makes it worth checking out.Row 1 - Cell 2 Air Guitar Nation - I’m really enjoying this recent run of documentaries that step away from epic political battles or complaints and just focus on smaller battles. Air Guitar Nation is twice as quirky as King of Kong, and another good battle between two people over a simple and strange battlefield.
