Damned Dirty Apes Invade Blu-ray

November 4th is a good day for classic sci-fi fans, as one of the all time great genre movies comes to Blu-ray. Fox is putting forth a really good effort for the first Blu-ray release of Planet of the Apes - that’s the 1968 classic, not the Tim Burton disaster remake. The movie has been remastered and features a plethora of bonus material, with both new material and vintage behind the scenes looks at the movie.

Just about everything you could want from a Planet of the Apes Blu-ray release is in here - dailies, makeup tests, classic behind-the-scenes looks. The only thing that isn’t in here is an excerpt from the musical version of the story. Oh, wait, that was a Simpsons episode, wasn’t it? You’d think with all the other movies made into musicals out there, someone would have jumped on that for real.
