Do The Hustle And Fight Crime With Life On Mars Series 2 On DVD

What’s the worst part about falling in love with a British television series? You’ve got to wait way too long for the show to hit DVD in the US. The first series of Life on Mars was released on DVD in the UK back in May of 2006, and the second in April of 2007. Over three years later, the first series hit shelves in the states and the second is following close behind. Thanks to Acorn Media, you can own Life on Mars, Series 2 on DVD November 24th.

Normally, after someone is hit by a car, they wind up in the hospital. In Sam Tyler’s case, he winds up in 1973. He still works for the Manchester and Salford Police as a Detective Inspector, but now works for his boss’ predecessor, who isn’t thrilled with his modern law-enforcing tactics. Sam’s show-opening monologue says it all, “My name is Sam Tyler. I had an accident and I woke up in 1973. Am I mad, in a coma, or back in time? Whatever's happened, it's like I've landed on a different planet. Now, maybe if I can work out the reason, I can get home.”

In addition to eight episodes, the DVD also comes with the documentary “The Return of Life on Mars”; behind-the-scenes footage for the third, fifth, and seventh episodes; as well as a tour of the set and the featurette “The End of Life on Mars.” I’ve never seen the show, but if you go by the generally positive critical consensus and the series’ International Emmy Award for Best Drama, the $59.99 is likely worth spending.
