Your Friendly Neighborhood Serial Killer Comes to Blu-Ray

There’s been a murder and the Miami Metropolitan Police Department is on the case. While each member of the squad is a superb officer, the blood spatter analyst is always a step ahead. When killing is your hobby, odds are your senses are heightened when trying to read a crime scene. Thanks to CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment, you can watch Dexter and the intricacies of his work in the pristine picture of Blu-ray January 6th.

The series is based on the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay. Dexter (Michael C. Hall) works in the Miami Metropolitan Police Department’s crime lab. He is regularly called in to assist in decoding a crime scene based on the blood remnants left behind. Little do his colleagues know, when Dexter goes home he doesn’t leave his work in the office. In order to ease his secret passion for killing, Dexter spends his free time hunting down those who kill with no remorse. Nobody on the force knows about his double life, not even his sister Debra (Jennifer Carpenter). You’d think hiding his dark secret would be Dexter’s biggest problem, but like everyone else in the world he suffers from typical emotional stresses as well, in particular, relationship pressures with his girlfriend Rita Bennett (Julie Benz). Dexter must juggle a relationship, job and his obsession with blood all while keeping an unsuspecting grin on his face.

The three-disc set features all 12 episodes of the first season, some with their own cast and crew commentary. You’ll also get access to the special BD-Live features including “The Academy of Blood – A Killer Course,” “Witnessed in Blood – A True Murder Investigation,” a Michael C. Hall podcast, the first episode of the show’s third season and two episodes of the new Showtime series United States of Tara.

If that new show is anything like Dexter I’ll be sure to watch it when it hits the air. There’s nothing better than a show with a mix of suspense and comedy. The suspense keeps you focused and wanting more while the comedy pushes the entertainment level to extreme. If you prefer to stay out of the cold weather, I recommend curling up on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate and Dexter. Come January 6th, I’ll certainly be $57.99 short.
