Charlie Bartlett Poster

Despite having Robert Downey, Jr. and a totally awesome concept on its side, Charlie Bartlett has been kicked all over the release schedule for the last year. It was so certainly set for an August release date a few months ago that it appeared on the cover of one magazine, only to be pushed back to February for unknown reasons.

It seems there might have been some issues with marketing a teen comedy about a high school student selling drugs to his preppy classmates, but the latest poster for the movie might help with that. See it in high-res here. The doodle collage look gets across the teenage angle, and the sarcasm evident just on Charlie’s face indicates this isn’t a stuffy drama about drug use. The T-shirt, while snarky and a little bit obnoxious, gets the point across the best: “People like you are the reason people like me need medication.”

If it turns out to be any good, Charlie Bartlett could ride Juno’s wave of smart teen comedies that adults and hyper-intelligent kids are both willing to see. Early reviews look good, so when Charlie Bartlett hits theaters on February 22, it might live up to the promise of its poster.
