Comic Book Adaptation Will Fight For God

Having sat back and watched Marvel and DC Comics get all the movie adaptation business, Top Cow comics has decided to get in on this whole superhero thing. Now that Wanted is a monster hit, the production company is going forward with adaptations of some of its other most popular titles. We already told you about the Witchblade adaptation, so now prepare for yet another movie about a woman kicking ass—and this one even has God on her side.

The Magdalena will star Jenna Dewan as Patience, a woman who realizes she’s born to a line of female warriors who are descended from Mary Magdalene. The women, naturally, fight supernatural evil forces. Luke Goss, who you saw in Hellboy II as that freakishly pale prince, will play an agent of the organization that guards the descendants. The Hollywood Reporter says that both actors will be at Comic Con this weekend, giving you plenty of opportunity to ask them whether this movie will be as much of a Da Vinci Code/Wanted mash-up as it seems.

Dewan has mostly been seen in cinema classics like Step Up and Grudge 2, so maybe playing a holy warrior will be a chance for her to break out. Based on my hasty Google image search, she’ll at least have a chance to show off her physical assets in the role. I actually don’t recommend you Google the comic book, since the third image I came upon was considerably NSFW—and it’s not even a photograph! Oh the dirty, dirty minds of those comic book geeks. Good thing the CB staffers at Comic Con right now know how to fend for themselves.
