Disney Gets Dangerous For Boys

Typically when you think of Disney you think of family-friendly entertainment. The company has built their reputation on material that is safe for young ones and enjoyable for almost everyone. That’s why it’s amusing to hear the studio will be producing an adaptation of The Dangerous Book for Boys, a title that’s clearly not as youth secure as you would expect from Disney.

The book, a tongue-in-cheek “how-to” manual that gives the secrets of typical boy toys like go-carts and bows and arrows, has been optioned by producer Scott Rudin, who has been behind movies like Failure to Launch and The Queen. He will produce the film for Disney who has put their executive vice president of production and development, Brigham Taylor, in charge of overseeing the project according to The Hollywood Reporter. You might best know Taylor’s name from other family films the Mouse House has put out, particularly ones about pirates.

There’s no mention of how the mock manual will be made into a movie, but if the book adaptation does well there’s potential for more. The Daring Book for Girls is also part of the series.
