A Guest At The Museum

There's pretty much no lack of things to look forward to about Night at the Museum 2: Escape from the Smithsonian. From the scenes actually filmed in the Washington, D.C. museums, the script by Reno 911! wrters Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon to cameos by actors as varied as Steve Coogan and Amy Adams, the movie will be action-packed if not a little hard to follow with all the damn characters. But now some fortuitous casting has given you even more to look forward to about the movie, coming out next May: Christopher Guest has signed on.

Perhaps you prefer to call him Corky St. Clair? Or Nigel Tufnel? Or maybe Harlan Pepper? Well, this time you can call him Ivan the Terrible-- The Hollywood Reporter says the man of many voices and faces will play the famous Russian prince. And he's just part of a pretty great line-up of cast additions. Bill Hader, who is quickly becoming the best part of Saturday Night Live, will play General Custer, and Jon Bernthal, a standout TV actor, will play Al Capone.

To top things off, screenwriters Garant and Lennon will also have cameos, playing the Wright brothers. Will any of this actually teach kids anything about American history? Probably not. Will it be totally fun to watch, if only to see what Bill Hader and Ben Stiller do on screen together? Absolutely. Even if the kids you force to go see it with you don't get what's so funny.
