Mad men, an unknown white male and … hungry rabbits? Well, yes, but it’s not that literal. THR reports that Mad Men’s January Jones will squeeze in another movie before she starts work on Unknown White Male with Liam Neeson and Diane Kruger. That film is the thriller The Hungry Rabbit Jumps.

The Robert Tanen script follows a man (Nicolas Cage) desperate for vengeance after his wife is the victim of a crime. In his effort to achieve retribution, he gets tangled up with an underground vigilante group. Jones will play the wife, a part that producer James Stern of Endgame describes as “a very meaty role” and “not just reactive, but active.”

Stern is working with Tobey Maguire and Jenno Topping of Maguire Entertainment and indie producer Ram Bergman with a $30 million budget. Roger Donaldson (The Recruit and The Bank Job) is set to direct. Filming will kick off early December and is expected to wrap sometime before the late-January start of Jones’ other project, Unknown White Male.

I’m all for Jones joining the cast but that doesn’t make the title or Cage’s involvement any easier to digest. Let’s hope there’s as much meat to the script as Stern says is in Jones’ role; otherwise we’ll probably just wind up with another bitter, wide-eyed, typical Cage character at the center of this one.
