Jane Lynch Will Raise The Three Stooges

Jane Lynch is joining the cast of The Three Stooges and that’s perfect casting. Actually, casting Jane Lynch any time, any where is also perfect casting. Doesn’t matter what you give her, she’ll knock it out of the park. In this case she’s particularly perfect because she’ll play the long-suffering head nun who runs the orphanage where the Stooges grow up in the Farrelly Brothers upcoming feature film.

Unbelievably, she actually wasn’t the Farrelly Brothers first choice for the role. Originally they were after Cher, who would have been terrible. She’s not even good in musicals, and she’s a singer, imagine how awful Cher would be in a slapstick Farrelly brothers comedy. All wrong.

So they couldn’t get Cher and they landed on Lynch and we’re all the better for it. Her role is a fairly significant one in the script, which shows the Stooges growing up at the orphanage where she’s mother superior, and then continuing to live there long after they’re grown and should probably have moved out. You can imagine what sorts of shenanigans they got up to, during Jane Lynch’s long tenure as mother superior.

Deadline says production on the movie begins in May. Already cast in the film are Chris Diamantopoulos as Moe, Will Sasso as Curly, and Sean Hayes as Larry Fine. Yeah, this cast really needs Jane Lynch. She’ll knock it out of the park, like she does, every time she’s in front of a camera.
