Movies According To Jim

Jim Belushi is taking a turn behind the camera. Let’s hope the results fare better than his last few roles in front. As much as Belushi has had some success in the past, most of his most recent roles have been more along the lines of the brain-numbing According to Jim television series. Even though Underdog turned out to be an enjoyable flick, it was despite Belushi’s part, so if he wants to shift to behind the camera, I won’t be complaining.

Belushi’s film directorial debut will be a football movie, based on the true story of Marty Reichman, a 42-year-old who returns to college and discovers he’s eligible to play as a tight end, reports Variety. The movie, titled The Catch, is written by David Murray, who also wrote the upcoming Vince Lombardi biopic.

At the very least, Jim Belushi will have a good rapport with The Catch’s star, considering he’s worked with him on the thirty-plus episodes of According to Jim that he’s directed. That’s because Belushi himself will star in the movie, as well as direct and produce, so this isn’t a total shift away from acting. That’s a shame.

He may be putting out products of questionable quality, but Belushi is staying busy. According to Jim moves into its seventh season soon, which is expected to wrap by January, with The Catch moving into filming by March.
