Patricia Clarkson Stars In Another Indie

Reigning indie queen Patricia Clarkson (The Station Agent, Pieces Of April) is not about to go all mainstream on us. According to Variety, she has joined the cast of another offbeat flick called Lars and the Real Girl, directed by Craig Gillespie.

The script, written by Nancy Oliver, centers around a timid, lonely man (Ryan Gosling) who becomes good friends with a lady on the internet (Clarkson). However, when it comes to the World Wide Web, you never really know what you’re getting into. He learns this the hard way when he invites the beautiful missionary to visit, and discovers that she is actually an inanimate replica of a woman. Yep, she’s a doll, which probably means he’s not going to get lucky, after all. Shucks.

The eccentric film, also starring Emily Mortimer, will be released by MGM.
