Superman Works Cheap

About a month ago, we told you about Christopher Walken starring in the film Five Dollars a Day. At that point, the only co-star we knew about was Allesandro Nivola. Now we know that Walken will be sharing the screen with Superman himself. No not the current Superman or the Smallville Superman. We mean the Superman I went to high school with, Dean Cain.

That’s right, Dean and I toted backpacks across the same quad in the early 1980s. This was before he went on to Princeton, professional football, and a big time television career and I went onto… not those things. In recent years he’s been at the center of a few failed television series and mostly supporting roles in little seen films. But that will all change now that he has landed this part in Five Dollars a Day, according to Movie Hole.

In it, Chris Walken plays a con man father who travels cross county with his son (Nivola.) Sharon Stone will portray Walken’s girlfriend, Peter Coyote is his former partner while Amanda Peet and Cain have unspecified roles. The movie, directed by Nigel Cole (A Lot Like Love and Calendar Girls,) has just started filming, so look for it coming directly to DVD or maybe eight theaters in 2008.
