The box office is inundated with horror movies right now, but if you're looking forward to the summer as a break, you're not going to find it. At least Warner Bros. has a spooky, killer-kid movie planned for smack dab in the middle of the summer, and I can guarantee they won't be the only one going that direction.
The movie they've got planned for us is Orphan, in which Vera Farmiga and her handsome husband adopt a little girl named Esther, and then are terrorized by her and her apparently limitless powers for evil. The trailer, which we've got for you below along with the poster, promises "you'll never guess her secret," which probably means we'll figure out halfway through that she's a ghost or a demon of some kind. That's just my bet.
I wouldn't normally harsh on a movie like this so much, given that it looks genuinely creepy and with the possibility to surprise. But after seeing her great work in Nothing but the Truth last fall, I feel like Vera Farmiga is better than this, and hate to see her go the easy horror route. Of course, her participation in this might mean it's further indication of her good taste, and it's something special. Check out the trailer below and decide for yourself.
