Welcome to the Monday Morning Memo, a new video blog we are launching on CinemaBlend that helps you kick off the week with a pop culture jolt, allowing you to drift over to the water cooler or into the break room at your office and drop serious knowledge on your friends and coworkers because you are up-to-date on the major happenings in the world of film, television, and Hollywood in general.
This morning, everyone is going to be talking about last night’s Golden Globes ceremony, which was hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. The Globes – handed out by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association – spread the wealth to several different films this year, proving that 2013 was a quality year at the cinema. It also means that, without a clear-cut frontrunner, the Oscar race is fairly wide open, and major campaigns are going to be launched between now and March 2 to see which film, director, actor and actress can emerge triumphant on Oscar night.
But let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. Let’s focus on the Globes, singling out three winners and three unfortunate losers from Sunday’s evening’s ceremonies. If you are following along at home, you are going to want to read the following links:
- A complete list of film winners from Sunday night’s Golden Globes.
- Nick’s analysis on the 5 Things We Learned About the Ongoing 2014 Awards Race.
- This amazing Jennifer Lawrence photobomb … just because.
And keep it locked in on CinemaBlend all day long because we’ll continue to break down every aspect of the Golden Globes, including the evening’s top GIF moments, the impact it will have on the Oscar race (if any), and so much more.
