Under the Dome returns for Season 2 in less than a week. CBS has released a couple of previews for the series to give us an idea of what's head. More dome mayhem awaits the residents of Chester's Mill. From the preview above, which has some of the cast -- Dean Norris, Rachelle Lefevre, Mike Vogel, Alexander Koch -- talking about Season 2, it sounds like the second season will pick up pretty much exactly where the first season left off. And that's just as well, considering Barbie's life was almost-literally hanging in the balance. Will he be hung? I'm going to go out on a limb and say no. But that doesn't mean Jim Rennie will give up trying.
Speaking of Jim Rennie, does anyone else feel extra excited about Under the Dome's return because it's putting Dean Norris back on television? There was an abundance of Norris on TV last summer, but with Breaking Bad wrapped, the Dome is our only source of Norris these days. It's great to see him back as Big Jim appears to be up to his power-hungry ways, doing what he seems to think is the best thing for the community, though the Dome may disagree.
As for Junior Rennie, looks like he's about to drop the ball... or the blood-red snow globe, anyway...
A sign of things to come?
Moving on to the other preview, this video gives us a look at two new characters who are joining the series, Junior's uncle and a young school teacher...
It'll be interesting to see what kind of conflicts arise with these new characters mixing things up. CBS notes that Eddie Cahill and Karla Crome both join the cast of Under the Dome as series regulars. Here's the official description for the Season 2 premiere "Heads will Roll," which was not only written by Under the Dome author Stephen King, but will also feature an appearance by him.
“Heads Will Roll” – Barbie’s fate lies in Big Jim’s hands, and the Dome presents a new threat when it becomes magnetized. Meanwhile, Julia seeks out the help of a stranger to save the life of a mysterious girl who may hold clues to origin of the Dome, on the second season premiere of UNDER THE DOME, Monday, June 30 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
King's got the whole whole dome in his hands...
Fans of King may enjoy trying to spot him in the episode. If you'd rather have a preview of that now, however, check out the photo of King's appearance after the jump...
