24 Fans Are Crazy; Flock To Times Square

When I first moved to New York, I worked outdoors in Times Square. Doing what is a story for another time. The point is, it sucks—especially in the rain. There is something about that three-block radius that renders people completely unable to manage an umbrella. As a result, I have been poked in the face/scalp/eye with umbrella points more times than I can count. So when I read on TV Guide.com that over 200 fans braved the rain to go see a trailer for the new season of 24, I just sighed and shook my head.

Few things could make me brave Times Square. Keefer Sutherland himself putting the screws to an actual terrorist on 42nd street might do it, but even so, I’d probably be like, “nuts to that train ride” and take a nap instead. However, these devoted fans got to be the first ones to see 24’s interesting new developments for season 7. It’s already been reported that the new season is taking place in Washington, D.C., but star Mary-Lynn Rajskub (Chloe) was on hand to offer a few spoilers. For those of you who don’t want to know, stop reading now—Spoilers ahead:

Many of you have heard that Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard) is back from the dead this season. But what you may not know is that he’s back as Jack’s nemesis. Dun dun DUN! Rajskub also revealed some new developments in Chloe’s personal life. Apparently her and Morris' reconciliation worked because when we rejoin CTU’s favorite prickly pear, she has a wedding ring and a baby. On how her new status affects her work saving the world, Rajskub said, “[I'm] calling Morris (Carlo Rota) while I’m busy. So far he’s taking care of the baby, but he’ll be around.” Rajskub didn’t mention anything about Bauer’s personal life, but I’m going to go out on a limb and say that he falls in love with a woman who will somehow become involved in a terrorist plot, forcing Jack to save/kill her, the lasting effects of which will ultimately ruin their relationship. Sound about right?

Season 7 of 24 premieres Sunday, January 13 at 8 pm on Fox.
