41 Preview: HBO To Air George Bush Documentary Next Week

George Herbert Walker Bush turns 88 years old next week, and to commemorate the occasion, HBO is set to debut 41, a documentary film by Jeffrey Roth, which looks into the life of our 41st president. HBO released a trailer for the documentary, which makes its debut a week from today. The title is a reference to Bush's place in line among the U.S. presidents, and probably shouldn't be confused with 61*, the 2001 Barry Pepper starring telepic about Roger Maris, which also happened to air on HBO. (Am I the only one whose brain made that random connection? Back to more relevant matters…)

As HBO describes it, 41 "is a rare, intimate glimpse at the life and times of the 41st president of the United States" and the first documentary to tell George Bush's story in his own words. So we can probably expect this to be a more positive look back at the life of the president. The trailer below seems to verify that.

There's a definite emphasis on Bush's achievements and the contributions he's made to the country through his work over the decades.

Executive produced by Jerry Weintraub, 41 was filmed over a 17-month period (September 2009-February 2011). Those looking for a way to celebrate the former president's birthday might want to tune in to HBO next week (Thursday, July 14) for the debut of this documentary. Other HBO airings of 41 include June 14 (3:50 a.m.), 17 (noon), 18 (9:00 a.m.), 20 (12:45 p.m. 12:30 a.m.), 23 (2:00 p.m.) and 29 (6:15 p.m.)
