Southland To Get A Second Chance On TNT?

While NBC may have decided to shut down Southland before the series even premiered for its second season, it looks as though there may be hope for the cop-drama.

Last week, The Hollywood Reporter posted that after pushing off the premiere date for Southland’s second season, NBC decided to cancel the show entirely. Season 2 was scheduled to take over Dateline NBC’s Friday night 9 PM timeslot on October 23rd but now it appears Dateline will hold the slot.

Where does that leave Southland? One would assume that cancellation would be a death sentence for a series, however The Reporter posted today that there may be hope for Southland if TNT decides to pick it up. The Reporter stated that talks are “advancing” on the subject, so if you’re a Southland fan, don’t give up hope just yet!

As Southland is a cop-drama following a veteran cop who’s partnered alongside a rookie, I think the series would definitely be a good fit for TNT. With shows like The Closer, Saving Grace and the more recent Dark Blue on that cable network, Southland would surely fit right in there and would likely stand a much better chance at living past its second season on TNT if the network does decide to pick it up.
