Dana Delaney To Become A Desperate Housewife

Edie’s suicidal departure from Wisteria Lane at the end of last season left an opening for one more desperate housewife. Rumor has it; Dana Delany is in the final discussions with the show to become a series regular when ‘Desperate Housewives’ returns this fall.

TV Guide’s Ausiello got the inside news on the story. Delany, most commonly known for her Emmy Award winning performance in the TV series, ‘China Beach,’ was originally asked to play the role of Bree numerous times when ‘Housewives’ was being created. Now according to Ausiello, it looks very probable that Delany will be joining the cast, playing the role of Katherine.

provided the casting breakdown for Katherine, who is described as an “attractive 38-45 year-old conservative Republican with an all-American wholesomeness and a mastery of passive aggressiveness.” Anyone who saw Delany in the movie Housesitter knows she can pull that act off pretty well. Let’s just hope she goes without all of the plaid ensembles this time around.

While we’re on the subject of new characters, Katherine will be moving onto Wisteria Lane with her teenage daughter, whom Ausiello describes as a “17-year-old daughter who sounds like she could assume Andrew's mantel as the show's biggest JV troublemaker.”
