Denis Leary's New Project

It looks like Denis Leary’s going to be returning to network TV and comedy with a new project on Fox. Leary’s spent the last few years as co-creator and star of the hit show ‘Rescue Me’ on FX but not since ‘The Job’ was cancelled by ABC has he done anything for network TV.

The project, which is untitled as of late, will center on a teenage thief who goes to live with his grandfather who, as it happens, also likes to steal things. Zap2it.com reported that Don Reo, co-creator of ‘My Wife and Kids’ will be writing the script for Leary’s new show.

As for how closely Leary will be working with this new show, its not clear. He’s signed on for another season of ‘Rescue Me’ on FX which will air in summer of 2007. Then again, things didn’t look good for Tommy Gavin in the season finale of ‘Rescue Me’ this summer. Last we saw of Leary’s character, he was passed out in a burning building with only his psychotic not-quite-girlfriend there to save him.
