Jessica Simpson Could Be Coming Back To TV

It looks like Jessica Simpson might be working out a deal for her own TV special. According to reports, it doesn’t look like it’ll be another Newlyweds-type show though. Entertainment Weekly reported that Simpson’s father and manager, Joe said that Jessica is just finishing up with her country album and that she has her eye on a deal for an unscripted series with CMT. Joe told EW, “With Newlyweds, she let everyone into her world. Then she had to shut the world out. Now she can open it up again so people can see, here's a girl struggling with self-esteem and finding her way. Country music is about storytelling, after all.”

US Magazine later reported that Simpson’s rep says this isn’t entirely true and that it’s not a reality show. The rep went on to say, “Jessica is finishing her country album in Nashville. They’re in talks with CMT for a special timed to air when the album is released, but there’s no truth whatsoever to there being a reality show.”

Call it “reality TV” or a “special” if you want; either way it’s a pretty good idea. What better way for Simpson to get the attention of country music listeners than to promote it on CMT with a reality-ish unscripted special of some sort?
