Sly As FOX?

Oh FOX, where has your creativity gone? Are you nothing more than a network that green lights overdone, overcooked, over-exposed premises? Soon enough you’ll be trying to spin off something from ‘The O.C.”

TV.com reported this week that FOX gave the go to three new shows. Are you ready for the pitches? Imagine you are the executive sitting on your throne and these words escape from the helpless writer/producer/director/whoever that hawks these cheesy wares. Close your eyes and picture it. No, wait. Don’t close your eyes. Read on.

First up, ‘Canterbury’s Law,’ a no-doubt riveting show that chronicles the life and times of a lawyer who does “whatever it takes” to defend the innocent. Please see successful shows, ‘The Practice,’ ‘Boston Legal,’ ‘Law & Order,’ etc... Does FOX really think the public can eat another one of these? Apparently so. Hell, if they get the right cast, I’ll watch. They are presenting the lawyer as “pushing the boundaries.”

On deck, FOX is paying for the pilot production of ‘Supreme Courtship.’ This one is a real winner because it’s all about the drama of six Supreme Court clerks and their supervisors. We need to know this stuff, people. I know that I want the ins, outs, overs, and unders regarding the Judicial Branch of the American government. I give this one 3 weeks. Changed my mind already. It never makes it to air.

Finally, riding the coattails of many successful hospital-esque drama/comedy situations, FOX is working on an untitled nurse project. Of course, this will contain “comedic undertones” and follow the life, love, and humor of nurses in a metropolitan hospital. Yes! My DVR is already set for this. ‘Untitled Nurse Project’ is going to be radical.

I’m curious. How do I land a job STEALING ideas from others, presenting them as my own, while getting free food, trailers, attractive people surrounding me, and probably money too? How?
