Mercenary Kings And Arkham City Attack PlayStation Plus Today
Whether you’re gaming on the PlayStation 3 or the PlayStation 4, or perhaps you just happen to enjoy games about angsty teens who gain super powers after being bitten by a radioactive arachnid, then this week’s PlayStation Plus update has something for you.
It looks like Sony didn’t want to fool around with their April 1 PS Plus update, opting instead to dish out plenty of goods for gamers who subscribe to this monthly service. We announced last week that April would be a big month for Plus and, starting today, two of the month’s six Instant Game Collection offerings will go live, including Mercenary Kings for the PS4 and Batman: Arkham City for the PlayStation 3. There’s also a series of Spring Fever discounts on all things Spider-Man, for those looking to save a few bucks on a collection of action titles.
First up this week is Mercenary Kings for the PlayStation 4, a two-player side-scrolling shoot-em-up that harkens back to genre greats while storming onto the scene with loads of action and a style all its own. For those who have played the game version of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, you should be excited to know that this game comes from the same studio and, that being the case, you know you can expect tight controls, wonderful inside jokes and all of the pew-pew-pew action you could hope for. Wrapped in a retro package, Mercenary Kings offers couch and online co-op, meaning you should always be able to find a fellow mercenary looking to take down an island full of baddies in order to rescue your fellow brothers in arms.
Also arriving on Plus this week is the second game in the acclaimed action franchise that proves you really can make a badass licensed super hero game, Batman: Arkham City. Facing off against some familiar faces and new enemies, Bats finds himself leaving behind the confines of Arkham Island in order to break faces within an entire section of his beloved city. Some yahoo thought it would be a good idea to let criminals run wild in their own little depraved paradise, and now the Caped Crusader and his new firenemy, Catwoman, have to prevent an assortment of villains from expanding their reach to the rest of the city.
Finally, this week’s Spring Fever promotion includes loads of Spider-Man content discounted for all PlayStation Network shoppers. Additional discounts will be granted to Plus subscribers on The Amazing Spider-Man, as well as its many bits of DLC.
