Quick Hit Football Gets Microtransactions

Browser-based coaching/front office sim Quick Hit Football now has a virtual store that allows players to enhance their teams. You can spend Coaching Points to draft NFL legends like Barry Sanders or to train up the players you've already got.

Coaching Points, or CP, can be acquired in one of two ways. You can either earn them through play or purchase them with real money. New players who create a team between now and February 8th will get $5 worth of CP for free. Existing players can win $10 of CP by beating nine A.I. teams in a "Mega Bowl."

"Gamers sometimes have concerns when virtual goods are introduced, wondering how it might affect the game’s balance," says the press release. "Quick Hit Football’s CP system was developed in a way that keeps the game fair, regardless of whether a Coach levels up by playing the game or purchasing points. Salary caps, improved match-making and fantasy point bonuses are just some of the solutions the development team built into the game to maintain an even playing field."
