Inversion's Surprisingly Good Launch Trailer Mirrors Inception
Namco Bandaiís upcoming third-person, physics-based shooter, Inversion, has so far been promoted as a poor-manís Gears of War fused with a little bit of Dark Void. However, the official launch trailer, which is a couple of months too early, shows off some amazing Inception-inspired action sequences that are surprisingly good.
The thick, movie-trailer-esque music and the well paced action in the trailer makes for some really, really good viewing. I know a lot of action fans (including myself) have been asking for something different and it looks like Namco is delivering. At first glance it looks like another run-and-gun post-apocalyptic shooter, but once you look deeper you can see that Inversion is a very original, co-op TPS that could spell hours of fun if everything plays out the way it looks in the trailer. But hey, donít just go by what Iím writing, check it out for yourself below.
Most original third-person shooter this gen? Perhaps so. It all depends on how much inverting you get to do and whether or not its prescripted or entirely up to players to bungle up the physics as they see fit.
After seeing this trailer I think Iím going to be keeping a closer eye on Inversion. At least we know now that Namco is serious about doing something different with the genre and coming off a great, cinematic adventure game like Uncharted 3, it looks like third-person shooter fans will have a lot to look forward to in the coming months.
You can learn more about Inversion over at the Official Website. The game is set for release on the Xbox 360 and PS3 on February 7th in North America and February 10th in Europe in 2012.
