Fox has released a new way to watch the Avatar trailer. Note I didn’t say a new trailer. Like the movie itself, they’re toying with different methods of technology to use in promoting it. In this case, it’s an interactive Avatar trailer. What makes it interactive? Watch the trailer and throughout you’ll see popups which let you branch off to cast and crew interviews focused on specific characters and moments in the trailer. In those branching interviews, you’ll even see some new footage.
Sounds great right? There’s a catch. To run it you’ll have to download and install Adobe Air, which will then attempt to run the interactive Avatar trailer as an application on your computer. If you’re on a smallish laptop or an older PC, this is a great way to crash it. The software is buggy as hell, slow, difficult to use. It’s a flat out pain in the ass.
