The Big Bang Theory's Melissa Rauch Joins Owen Wilson And Zach Galifianakis In You Are Here
While many will likely associate Melissa Rauch for her role as Bernadette Rostenkowski in the hugely popular comedy series The Big Bang Theory, I still remember her fondly for the all-too-brief role she played in the third season of HBO's vampire drama True Blood. She only appeared in a handful of episodes as the ever-peppy, biscuit-baking Summer, but she left an impression. Alas, Hoyt chose Jessica over Summer, and that ended Summer's run on the series. Since True Blood, Rauch has moved on to network television, and from what I hear, her character has had better luck in love on TBBT than Summer did. Now it looks like she has her sights set on the big screen.
The Hollywood Reporter shared the news that Rauch is joining the cast of the upcoming Matt Weiner directed feature You Are Here. The film stars Owen Wilson, Zach Galifianakis and Amy Poehler and follows two friends (Wilson and Galifianakis) who set off "on a journey to find a healthy relationship" after Wilson's character's father dies. Rauch has been tapped to play "an over-coiffed and over-dressed call girl." Sounds funny already!
Most of Rauch's previous credits are on the small screen. In addition to The Big Bang Theory and True Blood, she appeared in an episode of The Office and played the role of Tina on the short-lived NBC comedy Kath & Kim. She played what sounds like a very small part in I Love You, Man, and the Reporter notes that she's involved in an indie drama that just wrapped called In Lieu of Flowers, so it seems we'll be seeing more of her on the big screen soon enough.
