Dredd Is Bringing Judgment To 3D, Blu-ray And DVD In January

By all accounts Dredd was a rollicking adventure story that was simply too grim and too violent for a widestream audience. The flick didn’t do so hot at the box office, and was in an out of theaters before you could say, “judgment.” The good news is that the flick won’t take too long to reach home entertainment platforms. Dredd will hit 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD and digital download on January 8, 2013.

Dredd was adapted from John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra’s famous comic book, but if you are reading this, you probably already know about the comic, as well as the far worse Judge Dredd flick that preceded this one. If you are a fan of Wagner and Ezquerra, this release is much more closely related to the source material, with a gritty and dark outlook (though I’d hate to recommend the 3D option, precisely because the flick is so dark).

Luckily, if you are a fan, it doesn’t seem to really matter which set you choose to purchase. Obviously, quality of picture will need to factor into your decision, but if we are talking bonus features, you’ll get the same extras no matter which copy you choose. These include a retrospective as well as a few “making of” sort of featurettes, as well as a motion comic prequel, which, if done properly and not hastily, could potentially be worth the cost of the set all by its lonesome. You can check out the full list, below.
