That didnít take very long at all.

Shortly after the viral site for Guillermo Del Toroís massive Pacific Rim went live, the first official clip arrived. Edited together like a choppy news telecast (while borrowing a page from the Cloverfield book of storytelling), the video shows the aftermath of a monster attack on San Francisco. Letís just say that the Golden Gate Bridge doesnít make it. See for yourself:

Humanityís going to need some giant freaking robots to combat Del Toroís giant freaking monsters. And from what weíve been hearing, humans are going to be piloting robots the size of skycrapers as the tackle sea monsters, Godzilla, kaiju and whatever else Pacific Rim throws up on the screen. Like what, you say? Good, because Wired weighs in with blueprints for how to build your own Jaegar robot, which soldiers will use to fend off the creature threat in next summerís blockbuster. Get busy building:

Pacific Rim worked fans into a lather with its presentation at San Diego Comic Con last summer. Now theyíre fired up for what Del Toro has in store for them next summer. The movie co-stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Charlie Day and Ron Perlman. Itís set to open everywhere in 3D on July 12, 2013. And hopefully the viral campaign will continue to produce new footage, giving us better shots of Del Toroís monsters, and the humans who are brave enough to fight them.
