Predators may have a director, and it’s not Robert Rodriguez. We’ve heard for weeks now about the upcoming Predator sequel being produced by Robert Rodriguez and his Troublemaker Studios, and while no one actually came out and said it I think at least a few of us had it in our heads that Rodriguez would be the one to direct it. That assumption would appear to be incorrect because the guys at Bloody-Disgusting are reporting that Neil Marshall may be brought in to helm it.
Marshall is a popular horror director, known mostly for niche films like Dog Soldiers and Descent, which never really made it big with mainstream audiences. This is probably great news for those of you afraid that Predators might be watered down, love him or hate him Marshall certainly isn’t afraid to drown his movies in R-rated gore. Of course, neither is Rodriguez.
Bear in mind here that for now, this is just a rumor and even if true, BD says he hasn’t actually been signed. They may be close to signing him, but Neil Marshall doesn’t have the job yet. With Fox fast tracking this for a summer 2010 release date, expect some official word soon.
