The cast of Christopher McQuarrie's One Shot is growing by the day. Just yesterday it was reported that Robert Duvall has entered talks for a small but important role in the Lee Child adaptation and now, according to Deadline, Spartacus: Blood and Sand star Jai Courtney has landed a part as well.

Set to be both written and directed by the Usual Suspects screenwriter, One Shot begins when a highly-trained sniper assassinates five individuals. When the police find the man that they believe to be guilty, he requests that the authorities contact Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise), a man that he says can prove his innocence. While Reacher actually believes the suspect has committed the crime, he works with a detective (Rosamund Pike) to ensure that they've find the right man. But during the investigation, the hero finds himself in over his head.

According to the website, Courtney will play a sniper who attempts to stop Reacher from finding out the truth. The film will actually only be Courtney's second feature film, the other being director Richard Frankland's comedy Stone Bros. In addition to Spartacus the actor has also been in episodes of Australian television shows like Packed To The Rafters and All Saints. One Shot's cast also includes Richard Jenkins, David Oyelowo and Alexia Fast. The movie will be released on February 8, 2013.

For those that have read the book, what do you think of Jai Courtney's casting? Is he a strange mismatch like Tom Cruise portraying a 6'5" barrel-chested juggernaut or is the perfect man for the part?
