Spider-Man 4 Coming Out In IMAX![]()
As if it is a surprise, given that both Spider-Man 2 and 3 were released in IMAX, Sony and the giant screen company have announced that the fourth film, coming out May 4, 2011, will open simultaneously in IMAX (via Coming Soon). Again, duh. Virtually every potential blockbuster gets an IMAX release these days, and the Spider-Man franchise is probably one of IMAX's biggest sellers ever.
All I have to say about this news comes as a cautionary tale. When Spider-Man 3 came out I bought tons of candy and went with my friends on opening weekend, only to be stuck in the front row in the IMAX theater. Do not ever sit in the front row of an IMAX theater. You will not be able to read the credits, and then close-ups will seem terrifying, and the action will be incomprehensible. Not that I necessarily recommend seeing Spider-Man 4 anyway-- we'll have to see if it can actually recover from the third one-- but if you must, pick a reasonable spot. That is all. |
