Trailer For Werner Herzog Documentary Into The Abyss
Does a governing body have the right to decide if a criminal should be put to death for the acts that they've committed? It's a controversial issue and one that's held in just about every country around the globe from an objective perspective, but what is it like to see the world through the eyes of a person on death row? That's exactly what director Werner Herzog examines in his new documentary Into The Abyss.
The first trailer for the film has been released on Apple. Check it out below and in HD over there. The documentary centers on a man named Michael Perry, a 28-year-old death row inmate who is eight days away from execution for his crimes: the murder of Sandra Stotler, 50, during a burglary in October 2001. Over the course of the film Herzog speaks with those involved with the case, including Perry himself, in an attempt to "a gaze into the abyss of the human soul." Being distributed by Sundance Selects, Into The Abyss will be released in theaters on November 11th. |
