Zemeckis Prime

Who will direct the upcoming live action movie version of everyone's favorite toy pushing 80's franchise? According to the movie's scribe, Tom DeSanto, it'll be Robert Zemeckis in the director's chair for Transformers.

IESB.NET interviewed him this past weekend at Wizard World LA, and to their surprise he readily offered up Zemeckis name as the man behind the camera. Noticing their shock at his announcement, DeSanto quickly backpedaled and asked that his comment be left off the record. But since internet journalists have all the scruples of Megatron, the guys at IESB.NET reported it anyway.

If this is true, its pretty exciting for... well big nerds like me. When I heard they were making a live action Transformers movie, I assumed they'd get some hack like Alien vs Predator's Paul Anderson or former Trekker turned hack Jonathan Frakes to direct. But Robert Zemeckis... that folks is big, and hopefully some measure of how good DeSanto's script might be if they can get someone like him on board.
