Boardwalk Empire Director Signed On For Showtime Pilot Starring Liev Schreiber
Among the more intriguing sounding pilots in the works is Showtime’s Ray Donovan. Created by Southland’s Ann Biderman, the project already has Liev Schreiber on board to star and now it looks as though Showtime has secured a director for the pilot.
Donovan will have Schreiber in his first series regular role, playing a “professional fixer” in Los Angeles, whose job it is to help his wealthy clientele solve “highly confidential problems.” There are certainly plenty of ways Biderman and fellow executive producers Mark Gordon and Bryan Zuriff would be able to get creative with a concept like that, should this pilot go to series. Schreiber playing the starring role in the project only adds even more appeal to it.
According to Deadline, Allen Coulter is set to direct the pilot. Coulter has numerous TV credits to his name, many of which were at HBO, including episodes of Boardwalk Empire, Rome, The Sopranos and Sex and the City, as well as HBO’s upcoming series Luck. He’s also no stranger to directing pilots. His directing credits include the pilot episodes of Showtime’s Nurse Jackie and FX’s Sons of Anarchy.
