For every pop-locking break dancer or skilled ballet performer, there are millions of Roger-Rabbiting amateurs and Carlton Banks imitators. Now, anyone who thinks they can dance will get the chance to show off their skills and possibly be humiliated by a panel of obscure celebrity judges on national TV. Fox just announced that open tryouts for So You Think You Can Dance will start in January.
TV Guide reports that Fox is looking for U.S. citizens between the ages of 18 and 30 to try out for the fourth season of the reality game show created by Simon Fuller, creator of the UK's Pop Idol, the show that, of course, became American Idol in the United States. Fledgling dance stars wanting to try out for the show can hit Dallas on Jan. 17, Charleston, S.C. on Jan. 31, Washington, D.C. on Feb. 21, Los Angeles on March 6, Milwaukee, Wis. on March 20 and Salt Lake City, Utah on April 3. Specific venues have not been announced yet, but Fox promises to post that information soon on Fox.com/dance. What can potential winners look forward to if selected to compete? Season 2's winner got $100,000, a car, a contract to appear in Celine Dion's Las Vegas show, and three degrees closer to becoming Britney Spears' next husband. |
