Outlander Photo Round-Up Includes Kilted Jamie, Beautiful Claire, Sets And Scenery
Normally, I'd wait until next week to do another Outlander photo round-up, but there've been too many great pictures released since the last one and I wouldna want to deny fans the gloriousness that is the sight of of a kilted Sam Heughan being made up on the set of the Starz adaptation of Diana Gabaldon's novel. Is she adding a wound or some scars or just touching him up? Either way, hello Jamie Fraser.
The above image comes courtesy of the series' Instagram feed, which has been trickling set photos of the drama's production in Scotland. Those who've read the book know that this story is set in two time periods, as the novel begins with Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) on vacation with her husband in Scotland following World War II when she's suddenly thrown back through time to the 18th century. That's about where the sci-fi in this story begins and ends, unless we factor in Ronald D. Moore's involvement. The man who rebooted Battlestar Galactica is behind this adaptation, and we're hopeful that his experience with great character drama will lend itself well to this project -- Seriously, Outlander fans, even if you tend to shy away from sci-fi, give Battlestar Galactica a try, you might be surprised! As for Outlander, the book's more of a mix of historical adventure and romance.
Back to the pictures, the next photo shows Claire during the future/present point of her story, and gives us a glimpse of her and her husband Frank (Tobias Menzies) exchanging a "wartime goodbye," according to the caption:
Claire's WWII combat nursing experience understandably proves pretty useful in war torn Scotland, where injuries in the Highlands are a frequent occurrence. In fact, one of her earliest experiences with Jamie Fraser involves patching up some pretty serious wounds. One of the previously released photos shows Jamie getting tended to, presumably by Claire. And the last photo round-up included a set pic of Claire covered in blood, so we know she knows her way around physical trauma.
While the Instagram has been giving us set photos, Starz has used their Facebook page and Twitter to show finished stills from the series, including this gorgeous one of Claire looking ready to do a bit of gathering.
Starz also shared this gorgeous shot of the Highlands...
And finally, since it wouldn't be a photo round-up if we didn't include one of the amazing Scotland photos that Outlander writer Matt Roberts has been posting, here's one of his latest Tweets that shows off the stunning landscape of the beautiful country...
Still no official premiere date yet, and we may have a little while to wait for that, but we'll keep you updated. At the very least, we know the series is coming this Summer! Keep an eye on our Outlander coverage here for the latest!
