Wilfred Gets A Season 3 Premiere Date On FX
It seems like just yesterday that Wilfred became a part of FX’s lineup. However, the hit comedy starring Elijah Wood and Jason Gann is actually prepping for its Season 3 release. On Monday, FX announced Season 3 will be returning to the schedule on Thursday, June 20 with special back-to-back episodes at 10 and 10:30 p.m. ET.
The special episodes don’t end there. The following Thursday, FX will also air back-to-back episodes. To make things complicated, there will be a hiatus for the series during the July 4 holiday and when the show resumes, Wilfred will begin airing episodes singularly. The half-hour comedy is undergoing plenty of changes in Season 3. When the series was picked up for a new season last fall, it was also announced that showrunner David Zuckerman would be stepping down as showrunner, although Fox’s announcement today notes he is still on board as an executive producer. Thirteen episodes of the new season will be produced.
Based on the Australian series of the first name, Wilfred follows Wood as Ryan, a dude who is trying to get his life together. His entire worldview begins to change after he meets Wilfred, a character who most people see as a dog but who Ryan sees as an unhealthy and heavy-partying Australian dude in a dog suit. Over the course of two seasons, the show has signed on a slew of guest stars, including Chris Klein, Mary Steenburgen and Dwight Yoakam. This season the aforementioned talent will return, along with a slew of other famous names, including Gina Gershon, Angela Kinsey, Jenny Mollen and Lance Reddick.
You’ll be able to see what shenanigans the teams get into when FX’s Wilfred premieres on June 20 at 10 p.m. ET.
