Game Of Thrones' George R.R. Martin Visits Conan, Gets Spoofed By College Humor
There are certain writers known for killing off beloved characters. Joss Whedon has done it from time to time, Spartacus' Steven DeKnight was never afraid to do it with the Starz series, and George R.R. Martin has become notorious for it in his Song of Ice and Fire books and in the HBO fantasy-drama series based on those books. The above video shows the full interview* of Martin on Conan this week. The appearance comes perfectly timed after last Sunday night's episode of Game of Thrones, "The Rains of Castamere". If you still haven't seen the episode yet, spoilers ahead!
*Update: The full interview video was pulled from YouTube. The above segment is part of the interview. And here's another part...

Sunday night's episode of Game of Thrones featured "the Red Wedding," a horrific event featured in the book, which many fans were clearly prepared for, as Martin points out in the interview after watching the reel of people reacting to the scene. With the books paving the way, people knew to set up the camera to capture their friend or family member's shocked reactions to the slaughter. (I especially love the guy on the floor). Even those who knew that Robb and Catelyn would be attacked by Walder Frey's people were likely left with their jaws dropped, watching the ordeal play out. And that's two more main characters (Starks, no less) cut down. Because stuff like that happens in Martin's series. They weren't the first. They won't be the last. And watching Martin talk about the series, he makes no apologies for it.
College Humor had fun with George R.R. Martin's willingness to kill off his own characters by creating this spoof video, which portrays Martin in an even less unapologetic light…
There's still one episode left for this season of Game of Thrones! Watch the preview for "Mhysa" here! And be sure to tune in for the finale on Sunday, HBO at 9:00 p.m. ET.
