The Chipmunks Go Back To The Past And Into The Future In Two New DVDs

Isn’t it amazing how Alvin, Simon, and Theodore’s voices haven’t matured even after over 50 years on the job? When you’ve got major motion pictures about the singing trio hitting the theaters, it’s easy to forget it all began back in 1958 thanks to Ross Bagdasarian, Sr. and a tune called “The Witch Doctor.” It’s time to bring it back to the good old days of the classic, animated chipmunks, because on September 8th Bagdasarian Productions and Paramount Home Entertainment will release two new Alvin & The Chipmunks DVDs.

Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Very First Alvin Show brings you the boys’ television debut, originally broadcast in 1961, “The Alvin Show Episode #1.” The disc also comes with “Rockin’ Through the Decades,” hosted by Will Smith. It features the Chipmunks singing popular songs such as “She Loves You,” “Satisfaction,” and “Beat It.” Finally, there’s “A Chipmunk Reunion,” during which the Chipmunks search for their long-lost mother.

Kick it into warp drive with Alvin & The Chipmunks Go to the Movies: Star Wreck. Alvin, Simon, and Theodore travel through space aboard the S.S. Boobyprize in “Star Wreck” and track down the evil Moriarty in “Elementary, My Dear Simon.” There’s also “Chip Tracy,” which is about the only clean cop in a city plagued with crime.

Sorry, die-hard Chipmunk fans, these discs are for the kiddies. If you’re looking to share the fun with the little ones each disc will cost you $16.99. Otherwise hold off until a collector’s set is announced.
