The DVD Blend Makes Friends With Pooh

Each week DVDs come out. Some of them are worth your time and money and some aren't. Some of them are movies I've seen, and some of them aren’t. Regardless, I give you my opinion on the big releases of the week. If the releases sound like something you want to buy, just click the link to go to Amazon.com and you’ll support Cinema Blend with a few pennies. Take it or leave it, here's the DVD Blend.

Cinema Blend Pick of the Week:

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: Friendship Edition

This Disney classic hasn’t been out on DVD for a few years, celebrating its 25th Anniversary in 2002 with a new edition but nothing since, so we’ll forgive Disney for a slight rerelease here. Let’s face it, we couldn’t accuse the little yellow bear of anything as treacherous as a double dip anyway. Disney includes some new content, including a bonus episode of the most recent Winnie the Pooh television show, “My Friends Tigger & Pooh” but the real joy is the beautifully restored presentation of “Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day”, “Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree”, and “Winnie the Pooh and Tigger, Too.” There’s a reason why Disney movies become classics as Pooh is just as captivating to younger audiences today as it was in 1968 – just as entertaining for older audiences too.

Worth mentioning:
Row 1 - Cell 0 Bridge to Terabithia - We’d really like to give Terabithia a chance, if only Disney would stop messing up the advertising campaigns. This is a coming of age story based on the young adult novel, not the fantasy picture the advertisements make it out to be. What is is, however, is really enjoyable – as long as you’re expecting the right thing.Row 1 - Cell 2 Animaniacs: Volume 3 - Yakko, Wakko, Dot, and the rest of the madhouse company return in Volume 3 of this fantastic Warner Brothers cartoon. Targeted this time for spoof and satire include Anniversary specials, fairy tales, Woodstock, Power Rangers, Beatles movies, and the vocal skills and arragement style of William Shatner (my personal favorite episode).
