Of all the directors who have spoken out against 3D being "the future of movies," Christopher Nolan has probably been one of the more vocal ones. The director has previously talked about how actually made a post-converted 3D version of Inception that test audiences liked, but that the process took too much time. At the same time, though, he has spoken out against the dimness of the picture and his cinematographer, Wally Pfister, said that the technology is great for amusement park rides, but will likely prove to be a fad and eventually fade away. All of that makes me wonder if they know that there is an Inception 3D being planned for home release.
Collider recently spoke with director Jonathan Liebesman, who will be directing Wrath of the Titans using post-converted 3D, and he slipped in a detail about having seen "Chris Nolan [sic] Inception converting for the DVD." It's important to note that Inception came out on Blu-ray and DVD back in December, so it raises a lot of questions, the most important being whether another release being planned and if Christopher Nolan is involved with the process.
Given that Liebesman is working for Warner Bros. there is a chance that he has indeed gotten a peek at an Inception conversion, but for all we know it could be just the test footage mentioned above. It's definitely a story to keep an eye on.
